So maybe we don’t need every single one of these gadgets – but a few of them would definitely make our lives a bit easier.
That’s what it’s all about after all, right? We want gadgets which do cool things, so we don’t have to. We want them to make our lives easier, and we want them to look good as they do it. To be honest, even if they don’t really help us in our day-to-day lives, if they’re cool enough we still want one.
Well, in our opinion, the following gadgets have cut the mustard – or whatever the saying is. [tweet_dis]These are the 10 best gadgets of 2015.[/tweet_dis]
1. Oculus Rift
This had to be at the top of our list of top gadgets 2015 – especially when you consider that it’s been at the forefront of the papers since Facebook bought the company for $2bn.
For those of you who haven’t heard of it – Oculus Rift is a next-generation virtual reality headset, with 360 degree head tracking technology that allows you to feel like you’re walking into a totally different world. Yes, you will look a little weird doing it.
It is insanely cool though. Claiming to have around a 100 degree field of view, gamers will feel like they are actually in their favourite games – if that’s the direction this is all going in anyway. Who knows what Facebook have planned for it though.
2. The Panono Ball
This gadget is probably less well-known that some others a little way down our list – but it’s such a good idea and most certainly deserves a place. The [tweet_dis]Panono Ball takes 360 degree full-spherical images when you throw it up in the air[/tweet_dis] – which means it’s capable of taking some of the coolest panoramic images you’ve ever seen. It even measures the launch acceleration when you throw it, which then triggers the shutter at the perfect moment.
The idea is that you download Panono’s iOS or Android App and preview your amazing shots in there before saving it to whatever storage you used on your phone or uploading it for everyone to see. Just imagine some of the incredible images we’re going to look forward to from this one.
3. LG’s OLED Curved TV
We’re pointing you in the direction of something a little bigger now – LG’s curved OLED television is a seriously impressive device, even if you weren’t sure at first about curved TV screens.
It’s not only 105 inches of curved, OLED goodness, it’s also 4K which is better than many other TV sets you’ll currently find on the market. Reviews state that, unlike some of the curved smartphones we’re starting to see, the curved screen actually enhances your viewing – and as one of 2015’s best gadgets it’s something we really want to try out.
4. Intel Smart Earbuds
When we first say earbuds you’d be forgiven for thinking our list has gone downhill – but these are actually one of the best bits of wearable tech we’ve seen this year. These headphones have sensors built in so that they can monitor your heart rate and they’re a pedometre. Basically these headphones can monitor your health and fitness.
It doesn’t stop their either. The earbuds can monitor your heart rate to the point where they change the song coming from your smartphone if you need to get pumped or slow down. We’re loving that wearable tech is being put to good use here.
5. Samsung’s Gear Fit
Speaking of sensors which monitor your health – Samsung’s come up with a pretty good idea itself. The new Geat Fit fitness tracker has a curved AMOLED touchscreen, which hides a heart rate sensor right underneath.
It monitors your heart rate and gives you real-time fitness coaching to keep you in shape. As far as wearable tech goes, it’s generally quite good competition too – notifying you of any missed calls, texts or general notifications. It’s undoubtably one of the best gadgets on the market at this point in time.
6. Sony Short Throw 4k Projector
This one actually makes LG’s curved TV look like it’s from the past. Sony’s 4K Short Throw Projector actually projects images completely upwards so it doesn’t take up most of your room.
When it’s not projecting it would just look like a chest of drawers or something in your room – but the image it throws up is incredible. Reviews state that it can send a 66.-inch to 147-inch 4K image on to a wall, or if you fancy being really impressive – you can throw a 3D 1080p image up there. This, my friends, is the future.
7. The Nest Thermostat
We never thought that a thermostat would make it on to our list of best gadgets of 2015 either – but it’s hard to ignore all the smart home tech which is currently taking the gadget world by storm.
This thermostat literally makes your home smart, in short. It learns your schedule – when you’re in, when you go out – and adjusts your home settings accordingly. You can even control it from your smartphone. The makers behind Nest claim that it can reduce some of your bills by up to 20 percent.
8. Muse Headband
Do you ever get the feeling that you just can’t switch your brain off? Well, this device would be able to tell you if this really is the case.
The Muse headband gives you a real-time idea of your brain’s activity – allowing you to focus on things like breathing when you need to relax more, or improve your focus when you need to concentrate. Although it doesn’t play music according to your mood (just yet) there’s a good chance it could well do soon. Keep an eye on this one!
9. Pebble Steel
So here’s why we love the Pebble Steel smartwatch – it looks good and the functionality is the best of its kind. We know that other tech companies are going to start beefing up the competition, but as far as something good-looking goes that does everything we need a smartwatch to do at this time – we love the Pebble Steel.
It tracks your fitness activity, lets you monitor your smartphone calls, texts and notifications and more and more compatible apps are being added all the time. With a battery life or 5 to 7 days and a price tag of around £89 – this is one of the best wearable gadgets on the market.
10. The Emperor Chair
We’ve written about this one before, but we don’t think we’ll ever be able to get over how epic this Emperor chair is. I mean, it’s called ‘The Emperor’.
For around £12,700 this supervillain chair could be yours. Makers says it ensures total office comfort – which is perfect really considering you’d be glued to the five monitors surrounding you for most of the day. Oh, and those monitors are held by the ‘scorpian tail’ – our minds have officially been blown. It does cost almost as much as a flight to space though.
Which of these is your favourite gadget of 2015? Think we’ve missed one? Let us know your thoughts on Twitter or by getting in touch on Facebook. We love a chat. You can check out other tech news here and here too.
